How gynaecology fits into overall wellbeing

Women’s health is being neglected. The NHS faces undue pressure to deliver care with a severely restricted, ever- decreasing budget. In the US and Europe it is routine for women to have check-ups every 6-12 months. In contrast, British women tend to have one every 3-5 years, depending on their age. This is putting women’s health in the UK at severe risk. Within the NHS you can expect to wait up to 18 weeks to see a Consultant gynaecologist. At London Wellness, our Consultants’ specialisms means that you can get world-class care no matter what problems you may have. Appointments are available at times to suit you, giving you an outstanding service.

State of the art facilities at London Wellness

Our state-of-the-art gynaecology facilities at Canary Wharf are revolutionising the way we approach women’s healthcare in the whole of London. We have groundbreaking equipment, such as our DySIS colposcopy machine, which can detect pre-cancerous cervical cells. Latest clinical evidence in the EU, shows that with a conventional colposcopy as much as 51% of patients with high grade cervical cancer can be missed – with the use of a DySIS machine, this figure is dramatically reduced to 21%. Alongside our extensive knowledge in the field of women’s gynaecological health, you can be certain that we provide a world-class service within our discreet and tranquil recently-refurbished clinic.

Did you know...

The word “gynaecology” comes from the Greek γυνή (gyne) “woman” and -logia “study”.

Gynaecology deals with the functions and diseases specific to women especially those affecting the reproductive system, whilst Obstetrics is concerned with childbirth.

UK women aged 24-49 are only invited for a smear test every 3 years. In contrast, many US and European women are offered this every year.

All vaginas are unique – they come in all shapes and sizes.

Women in the UK are diagnosed each year with a form of gynaecological cancer.

Your vagina regulates its pH level by self-cleaning – so be careful what products you use there!

Nearly half of British women can’t identify the vagina – those over 65 had the worst anatomical knowledge!

Cotton underwear and switching detergents can reduce the risks of developing vaginitis.
