Psychologist Canary Wharf
Psychology at London Wellness is situated in our Talking Therapies room at our state-of-the-art, Grade II listed building in Canary Wharf. The tranquil room is an inviting, safe and comfortable space to talk to the Counselling Psychologist. It’s a world away from the high- rise buildings just across the quay.
How psychotherapy fits into overall wellbeing
Awareness around mental health is very much in the spotlight at the moment. It is commonly acknowledged that we all go through varying degrees of difficulties or concerns throughout our lives – no one is immune from it. By seeking highly-trained, professional help from our Chartered Counselling Psychologists, you can have a hugely positive impression on the way you view and accept yourself, your past and future, as well as have a dramatic impact on relationships, health, career and purpose in life.
Psychotherapy
We provide an open, sensitive and confidential space which enables our Chartered Counselling Psychologists to explore issues or patterns of behaviour which may have been difficult to deal with alone. We offer goal oriented and solution focused therapy of 10-12 sessions as well as long-term more exploratory therapy (6 months – 2 years). We work within a code of ethics set by the Health and Care Professions Council and the British Psychological Society. We offer the following therapies either on their own or as an integrative approach, depending on your individual needs:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Humanistic Therapies
- Mindfulness
- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
How psychotherapy helps
Psychology, psychotherapy and counselling involves a confidential therapeutic relationship working through your concerns and towards your personal goals. We will try and work out the meaning and together we will develop personal solutions and resources to alleviate any discomfort and distress. Therapy can be helpful for:
- Those wanting to understand the causes and the maintenance of their problems.
- Thinking about where you are in your life and how you wish to move forward.
- Exploring relationships (intimate, family, work).
- Managing general life stressors.
What You Can Expect
In the first appointment, we will have an opportunity to talk about your difficulties. Our highly trained Chartered Counselling Psychologist will ask about current problems, as well as other areas of life, such as family history, work history, relationship history, health issues, etc. We will then begin to develop an in-depth understanding of your difficulties.
We provide a complimentary 20 minute phone call to listen to your current concerns and how we could help you. We will discuss how our approach could support you through this concern, and provide you with further information about the service. If we believe we are able to help, and you’re happy and comfortable to start therapy, we then invite you for your initial consultation. This is usually face-to-face therapy, however we can offer online therapy over video conferencing (Skype), email and chat therapy.
